The weird and wonderful line-up is now complete. The latest additions
to the galaxy of stars performing this year are the inventive, willful
supremely talented Melbourne lads SNOUT, in what amounts to their
swansong performance. Sad, but true, they are calling their appearance
at Meredith the last show œfor an indefinite period.
Also hot off the presses is news that the amazing US act THE YEAH YEAH YEAHS will unroll their world famous live show at 4pm Saturday. They are making waves globally right now and we highly recommend you see what the fuss is all about. Meredith also welcomes special Guest MC Anthony Menchetti to the Sunday, he will be sharing some insights into modern life, helping reduce any The Day After pain you may have, as well as commentating The World Famous Meredith Gift.
PLUS Meredith is extremely proud to announce that christening the
Supernatural Amphitheatre on Friday night (yes, you can buy Friday
Entry Tickets which get you in between 4pm and midnight Friday for
$22 plus fees go to Friday Night for all
details) is legendary US rock and roll outfit DEAD MOON. We know
a certain Melbourne music journo who says they the best live band
on the planet by 10 percent. And that very same night Meredith is
delighted to welcome back the superock superpop supergroup THE FAUVES,
plus kicking things off are the World Class Rock and Roll Outfit
HOSS, plus THE SAILORS, DALLAS CRANE and SNOUT. Bands play 6pm to
1am Friday. For timetable, see below!
We don't muck around here at Team Meredith. Or...actually we do,
that's how we came up with the World Famous All-Nude Meredith Gift,
Master Jin Song Han's Tai Chi Sunday Morning, The Meredith Eye Ferris
Wheel, the Meredith SportsField (100 totem tennis poles planted
in rows), The Pink Flamingo Bar (which serves cocktails and glows
pink all nite) and..well..the whole idea of Meredith in the first
place. But this year we arent mucking around. No, no, no.
We got ourselves a lineup of acts straight FROM HEAVEN.

MEREDITH TAI CHI
Last year's Meredith Music Festival saw the inception of what will
surely become yet another popular Meredith tradition. Organisers
thought Sunday morning should start off with some Tai Chi, so they
literally called the first name they saw in the Yellow Pages and
Master Jin Song Han answered. Yes, he was prepared to do a Tai Chi
demonstration at Meredith, yes he would wear traditional outfit
and play a tape of traditional music. No, there was no need for
him to bring his tape recorder. It turns out Master Jin Song Han
is a former Chinese champion and Australian Team Coach. A real master.
9am Sunday morning, and several hundred weary, bleary Meredith-goers
go through their paces with Master Song; some thinking it was funny,
some taking it very seriously, all of them enjoying it. It's a huge
hit. The Meredith Amphitheatre is half full of people doing their
finest Tai Chi. He walks off to hearty applause. He says to the
organisers backstage "Next year, I have whole mountain..".
We think he will too.
